2008 Caught On Tape, Airing On "20/20," Friday, December 26 On ABC

Dec 23, 2008 - 4:22:45 PM

From the most unforgettable video moments on the internet to the year's biggest winners and losers, "20/20" brings viewers the stories and the people 'caught' in the pictures that everyone was talking about in 2008. "20/20" airs on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Reports include:

NIGHTMARES: Imagine the sheer terror of being trapped alone in an elevator for nearly two full days as your cries for help go unheeded... or watching live on a nanny cam as a caregiver seems to place your helpless infants at risk. Chris Connelly reports the stories behind these real-life nightmares which have been seen by millions on the web.

MEAN AND MISBEHAVING: With 13 hours of new videos being uploaded every minute to You Tube alone, what often gets noticed is mean. And in 2008, some of the unforgettable moments popping up on the web are kids as young as two years old battling it out for all to see -- taking the word "mean" to a new level. Deborah Roberts reports.

COPS: People have gotten so used to surveillance cameras that sometimes they forget that they're being recorded. That fact has helped the police catch lawbreakers, and in some cases it even catches the police misbehaving. John Stossel talks to a criminologist and an ex-cop turned lawyer about why police sometimes act like the criminals they're trying to catch -- even when they know the cameras are on.

WINNERS & LOSERS: From natural disasters and terrorists attacks to the financial crisis, from John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer to Michael Phelps, correspondent Jay Schadler reports on the winners and losers of 2008.

BABY BREAKOUT STARS: Chris Connelly reports on 2008's breakout stars -- celebrity babies, and the extreme amount of money their baby pictures can generate.

GREED: 2008 has been a year of the blame game, pointing fingers -- and cameras -- at those responsible for today's economic troubles. And it seems the only culprit everyone can agree upon is greed. Elizabeth Vargas reports.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is executive producer.
