Big Ten Network Announces Nine-Game Men's Ice Hockey Schedule
Highlighted by "The Big Chill at the Big House" between Michigan and Michigan State, the Big Ten Network will televise nine men's ice hockey games this winter, featuring all five hockey-playing Big Ten universities. Every telecast will be live and in high definition, and the network also will produce a post-game show following most of its games.
"The Big Chill at the Big House" on Dec. 11 at Michigan Stadium will be the second straight year that the network has carried an outdoor hockey game. Last year, the network televised the Wisconsin-Michigan game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. This year's Michigan State-Michigan telecast will be produced by FOX Sports Detroit and distributed nationally by the Big Ten Network.
The Big Ten Network's schedule begins at 8 PM ET on Nov. 6 when Minnesota hosts border rival Wisconsin at Mariucci Arena. The network will televise one of Minnesota's return trips to Wisconsin on Feb. 18.
The network will televise the Michigan-Minnesota matchup in the College Hockey Showcase at 5:30 PM ET on Nov. 28. FSN North will carry some of the remaining games of that event.
At 7:30 PM ET on Dec. 3, the network will televise the first of its three Ohio State-Michigan battles. The first one is at Value City Arena in Columbus, while the Feb. 11 and 12 meetings will take place in Ann Arbor at 7:30 PM ET.
The Big Ten Network will have television coverage of Michigan's return trip to East Lansing at 7:30 PM ET on Jan. 7.
Additional games throughout the season that would not otherwise receive live coverage will be available via web stream anywhere in the world atwww.BigTenNetwork.com. The network's full streaming schedule for men's ice hockey will be available at www.BigTenNetwork.com prior to the start the season.
The Big Ten Network, available to approximately 75 million homes in the United States and Canada, makes its selections in conjunction with the regional sports networks which have existing rights arrangements with both the CCHA and the WCHA.
Although the Big Ten Conference does not sponsor ice hockey, member schools have combined to win four of the last nine NCAA Championships and 22 titles throughout history. Three different Big Ten schools have won national championships in the last eight years.
