Bio Channel Premieres FEMALE FORCES - New Original Series Rides Shotgun With Female Officers From The Naperville, Illinois Police Department
Bio Channel, which achieved its best monthly prime average in network history in all key demos this August, continues to expand on its aggressive development with the launch of FEMALE FORCES. Thirteen one-hour episodes of this new original series will begin airing on Bio Channel on Sunday, October 5 at 10pm ET/PT.
Brains, beauty, and a badge... In each episode of FEMALE FORCES, viewers ride shotgun with the female officers from the Naperville, Illinois Police Department. Located in the Chicago suburbs, Naperville's 18 female officers fight a full gamut of big city crime.
Among the officers profiled on the show are: Senior Patrol Sergeant Betsy Brantner Smith, as a former narcotics agent and law enforcement tactics expert, this 27-year veteran officer is currently working as the force's senior day watch supervisor. Betsy is a tough cop, but also proud to be known as the department's "Princess." At the range, she is known for unloading a full magazine from an AR-15 assault rifle and proudly declaring "All rounds on target, and no broken nails!" Ten-year veteran Officer Julie Lardino knows how to interview a suspect. This self-described "warrior woman" can be mean when the need arises, but isn't afraid to use a softer touch to get a suspect to confess. There's also Sergeant Lisa Burghardt who says she grew up with four brothers so she's "never been intimidated by anything." When Lisa recently apprehended a suspect who'd been brandishing a weapon, her maternal instincts came out; "We're kind of upset that you're driving with these fake guns, and a baby in the car!"
Stories for season one of FEMALE FORCES include: a frantic search by Officer Lardino for a suspect on the loose with a rifle; a violent domestic dispute between brothers that Sgt. Burghardt is forced to sort out; an intervention by Sgt. Brantner-Smith between a mother and her angry teen daughter; and a battle of the sexes ensues when the ladies challenge the men of the police force to a colorful game of paintball.
