Apr 20, 2010 - 1:46:48 PM

Herb Greenberg Will Join the Network as Senior Stocks Commentator

Kate Kelly Will Join the Network as a Reporter Focusing on Wall Street

CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, announced that Herb Greenberg and Kate Kelly will join the network.  Greenberg will be senior stocks commentator and Kelly will be a reporter focusing on Wall Street. Both will appear daily during CNBC's Business Day programming and on CNBC.com.

"We are delighted to have Herb and Kate join the CNBC team," said Jeremy Pink, SVP Business News, CNBC. "They are two of the smartest, savviest and well-respected business journalists anywhere."

"I'm excited to return to CNBC as a full-time member of the best team in business journalism. I look forward to reconnecting with astute viewers and can't wait to rejoin the good friends I've worked with over the years," said Greenberg.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the CNBC team and covering a topic I know and love -- Wall Street -- in a new medium," said Kelly.

Greenberg has been a financial journalist for more than 30 years and has most recently been co-president of Greenberg Meritz Research & Analytics. He is a former weekend investor columnist for The Wall Street Journal and a former senior columnist for MartketWatch.  Prior to joining MarketWatch, Greenberg was senior columnist for TheStreet.com.  He previously spent 10 years as the "Business Insider" columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and nearly seven years as Fortune magazine's monthly "Against the Grain" columnist.  Before that, he was the New York financial correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and a financial reporter in its Chicago newsroom.  Greenberg has held various positions at other media outlets including Crain's Chicago Business and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Greenberg holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Miami.

Kelly has been a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal for nearly ten years. She has covered numerous firms for the Journal including Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley as well as the movie business and the New York Stock Exchange.  Before joining the Journal in 2001, she was a writer and reporter for Time magazine and, before that, a reporter at the New York Observer.  She has won a number of prestigious awards including two Gerald Loeb Awards, four awards from the Society of American Business Editors and a Livingston Award for Young Journalists in the national reporting category.  She also has been honored by the Newswomen's Club of New York, the Medill School of Journalism and the New York City Deadline Club. She is the best-selling author of "Street Fighters: The Last 72 Hours of Bear Stearns, the Toughest Firm on Wall Street."  She holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia College at Columbia University.
