CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO Premiering On Sundance Channel On April 13th
This intimate view into their daily routines reveals their hardships and triumphs as they pursue and achieve their own kind of fame. Joe McQueen, aka The Hulk, sold his Super Nintendo for a bus ticket to LA; Jennifer Gehrt, known as Wonder Woman, is a mid-west homecoming queen-turned wannabe actress; Max Allen who appears as Batman struggles with anger and his resemblance to George Clooney while Christopher Lloyd Dennis (the son of Academy Award-winning actress Sandy Dennis), who has portrayed Superman on the boulevard for over 11 years, is consumed by the Man of Steel.
Matt Ogens, director of "Confessions of a Superhero," first learned of these characters while directing a commercial in front of Mann's Chinese Theatre. That is where he met Superman, (Christopher Lloyd Dennis, son of screen legend Sandy Dennis) and became acquainted with the lives of these perplexing characters. "As we documented the lives of our superheroes I realized that the movie would not just be about making it in Hollywood, it would be about what each and every one of us wants - to be more than just a small fish in a large sea. We want to make a difference. On the surface our subjects might seem odd, but deep down all of us can relate to them." Although the Walk of Fame is right beneath the feet of these quirky individuals, their own paths to stardom prove to be long hard climbs.
"Confessions of a Superhero" is a feature length documentary that chronicles the lives of people who make their living portraying superhero characters on Hollywood Boulevard. An official selection of the SXSW Film Festival, "Confessions of a Superhero" was released in 2007 and was produced by Jamie Patricof (Half Nelson) and Charlie Gruet and was directed by Matt Ogens.
