Chiller Sees Enthusiastic Response From Fans For Second DARE 2 DIRECT Contest
Chiller, NBC Universal's thriller and horror cable entertainment channel, announced today that voting for the "Dare 2 Direct" Short Film Contest will begin Tuesday, September 2 with the finalists to be unveiled on Halloween night. The announcement was made by Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President, Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment.
"We're really impressed with the response we received this year with around 300 submissions for the contest," said Harrison. "Chiller has a community of fans who are so enthusiastic and are engaged both on-air and online."
"Dare 2 Direct" is a contest that challenges fans to write, produce and submit their own short horror films. The submissions are judged in the categories of Best Picture, Creepiest Character and Best Makeup/Costume. Beginning on September 2, viewers can log on to ChillerTV.com and vote for the Best Picture category. The films will remain online throughout October for fans to cast their votes, which will then determine the five finalists for Best Picture.
Chiller's special guest judges, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from the SCI FI Channel's "Ghost Hunters," will select the winner for each category, which will be announced on Halloween night, Friday, October 31, and featured in "Chiller's Dare 2 Direct Film Festival" at 9pm, 9:30pm, 12am, 12:30am and 2:30 am (ET). Each winner will receive $5,000 and Chiller goodies. Complete rules and information can be found at ChillerTV.com.
