ESPN SportsCenter: A Decade of Moments Reviews 10 Years of News & Newsmakers with a 90-Minute Show to Air Multiple Times Starting Dec. 23 SportsCenter

Dec 22, 2009 - 4:36:47 PM

Covering everything from sports' great accomplishments and athletes to the amazing comebacks, fantastic finishes, records set and controversies on and off the field of competition, SportsCenter: A Decade of Moments will allow viewers to re-live 10 years of news and newsmakers in a 90-minute retrospective.  The program, co-hosted by SportsCenter anchors Hannah Storm and Dari Nowkhah with essays from many familiar ESPN studio and event commentators, will be aired numerous times on ESPN (first airing Thursday, Dec. 24, at 4:30 p.m. ET) and ESPN2 (Dec. 24 at 9:30 p.m.) after debuting on ESPN Classic Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10 p.m.

SportsCenter: A Decade of Moments will review the dominant athletes and teams, the records that fell and the many memorable moments from a remarkable decade of sports.  The program will also look at the changing technology of sports, as well as examples of poor sportsmanship and other serious topics - how sports helped the nation heal from 911, the death of Dale Earnhardt and the sudden fall from grace by Tiger Woods.

In addition, a series of essays by ESPN commentators will focus on individual athletes or events.  These include:

* Tyree's Super Catch:  Super Bowl XL - Chris Berman
* Lance's 7th Heaven:  the 2005 Tour de France - Rick Reilly
* Match for the Ages:  Federer vs. Nadal, 2005 Wimbledon - Chris Fowler
* Record Overshadowed:  Bonds Breaks Aaron's Record - Bob Ley
* Barbaro:  Legacy of a Champion - Jeannine Edwards
* J-Mac and Softball Sportsmanship - Tom Rinaldi
* Michael Phelps:  Golden Touch - Jeremy Schaap
* Boise State Upsets Oklahoma:  Trick Finish - Brent Musburger
* 2004 Red Sox Comeback:  Curse Reversed - Karl Ravech
* 2008 US Open/Tiger Woods - Scott Van Pelt
* Decade in Review, and Next - Chris Connelly

Other segments will include conversation and debate by Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon of Pardon the Interruption, ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike co-hosts Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, and Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd of ESPN's SportsNation.
