Four legends, including ESPN's Rusty Wallace, who made major contributions to the growth and popularity of motorsports will be inducted into National Motorsports Press Association's Hall of Fame this weekend.
The class of 2010, which also includes Roger Penske, Jack Roush and Robert Yates -- will be inducted Saturday, Jan. 16, in Concord, N.C.
Newer racing fans know Wallace from his role as an analyst on ESPN since 2006. However, millions more fans recall the fiery Wallace for winning 55 races (eighth all time) and the 1989 season championship in what is now NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He scored at least one win in a record-tying 16 consecutive seasons. Wallace, now also a Nationwide Series car owner, was selected in 1999 as one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers.
The National Motorsports Press Association was founded more than 40 years ago, and is comprised of motorsports writers, broadcasters and photographers.
