Investigation Discovery Announces THE SHIFT Season 3 Premieres Wednesday, July 7 At 10 PM (ET)

Jun 9, 2010 - 4:42:52 PM

THE SHIFT returns with another action-packed season following the work and lives of one of the most active homicide teams in America today.   With exclusive access, THE SHIFT takes a behind-the-scenes look at detectives whose teamwork and tenacity combine to provide justice for victims and closure for their loved ones.

Focused on the efforts and techniques of these elite homicide detectives, THE SHIFT chronicles the "middle shift" of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) that works from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, considered to be "primetime" hours for homicide.  While those are their official hours, these investigators work tirelessly to solve their cases whenever they happen - to them, when someone is murdered in their city, it's personal.  Gripping, unscripted and authentic, Season 3 of THE SHIFT premieres Wednesday, July 7 at 10 PM ET on Investigation Discovery.

Indianapolis is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and with this growth comes an increase in violent crimes that plague many big cities.  Yet, the IMPD maintains one of the highest clearance rates in the country, currently at almost 80%.  With nearly 177 years of combined experience, THE SHIFT is comprised of an ensemble cast with Detectives Jesse Beavers, Cameron Brosseau, Todd Lappin, Lesia Moore, Tom Tudor, Sergeant Jeff Breedlove, Lieutenant Kevin Kelly, Captain Mark Rice, Major Chris Boomershine and Deputy Chief William Benjamin.

From the initial call requesting officers at the scene of a crime to the ultimate satisfaction of clicking the cuffs on a suspect, this series doesn't miss a beat while it follows the detectives in real time as they chase every lead and suspect to get to the truth.  Returning with a thirteen-episode second season, viewers are granted exclusive access to these real-life investigations, crime scenes, and perhaps the most compelling aspect of the series, interrogations.
