MTV Adds To Original Movie Slate With High School Comedy "MADE: THE MOVIE" Premiering Tuesday, August 24 At 10PM ET/PT

Aug 5, 2010 - 2:51:42 PM

MTV is picking up its pompoms and heading to try-outs in its latest original TV film "MADE: The Movie" premiering Tuesday, August 24 at 10p.m. ET/PT.  Inspired by the Emmy Awarding-winning reality series, "MADE," the two hour scripted feature tells the story of an unpopular high school student as she pursues her dream of attaining a coveted spot on the cheerleading team.  This marks the third premiere from the new slate of original movies produced in association with MTV.  Beginning August 25, 2010, "MADE: The Movie" will also be available on iTunes at $3.99 per download.

"'Made' the reality series remains one of our most popular and enduring franchises," said Chris Linn, Executive Vice President of Production for MTV.  "Its relatable stories about young people overcoming obstacles and pursuing their dreams, make it a natural fit for scripted dramatization.  This film is a great example of our commitment to delivering diverse content specifically crafted for the MTV audience."

"MADE: The Movie" follows the journey of Tuba (Cyrina Fiallo "Everybody Hates Chris," "My Alibi"), an unpopular band member who pursues her dream of trying out for the high school cheerleading team, much to her friends' dismay.  In an attempt to stave off any embarrassment, her brother Marshall (Brett Dier "Smallville" "Kaya"), the school's star basketball player, convinces Andi (Rachel Skarsten "American Pie Presents Beta House" "Birds of Prey"), his A-list cheerleader girlfriend, to take Tuba under her wing and train her.  Although the two girls couldn't be more different in attitude and personality, they come to see that although they may sit on separate sides of the cafeteria, they have a lot more in common than they think.

Produced by Entertainment One, the two-hour original comedy feature is written by Amy and Wendy Engelberg ("Clueless," "What I Like About You") based on a teleplay by Angie Day.  John Morayniss, Ira Pincus, Bob Kusbit and Francis Lyons are Executive producers.  Chris Danton and Tracey Boulton serve as Producers.  Tony DiBari, Lisa Silfen, Chris Linn and Robin Palmer serve as executives for MTV.
