MTV Networks Appoints Veteran Movie Journalist Scott Robson to Spearhead New Movie Initiatives and Enhance Movie Related Content

May 12, 2010 - 3:19:27 PM

MTV Networks Music & Logo Executive Vice President Dermot McCormack announced today the appointment of veteran film journalist Scott Robson as Vice President of New Movie Initiatives. In this newly created role, Mr. Robson will oversee new movie related projects and will work alongside editors at MTV Music Group's online properties that include MTV.com and VH1.com to enhance and expand their movie related content. He will report to Mr. McCormack.

"Given our audience's passion for movies, this appointment reflects our commitment to consistently provide compelling and relevant content in this space," McCormack said. "Scott's background in contextualizing entertainment-related content and advancing online platforms will position us for continued growth."

MTV Music Groups' current movie offerings include the annual MTV Movie Awards, which will premiere live on MTV on Sunday, June 6, with comedian Aziz Ansari slated to host. Online offerings include the popular MTV Movies blog, http://moviesblog.mtv.com/, and the movies' section of VH1's TheFABlife.com, http://movies.thefablife.com/, which in addition to featuring the day's latest movie news has covered VH1's live telecasts of the annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

Before joining MTV, Robson most recently served as Editor-in-Chief for AOL's Moviefone.com and AOL Television, two of the web's most popular entertainment destinations. While at AOL, he increased unique visitors and advertiser revenue by overhauling the editorial strategy, creating several new genre specific blogs and developing sponsored video franchises.

Previously, Robson created and launched the popular The Envelope website for the Los Angeles Times and served as a founding editor and Editor-in-Chief for E! Online. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Variety and other leading publications.
