MYSTERY ER SEASON 2 Premieres This Evening And Takes Viewers Behind The Curtain For Real-Life Medical Mysteries On Discovery Health
Starting Tonight, Discovery Health brings gripping, real-life emergency room stories to television with MYSTERY ER, the popular medical reality program. Beginning tonight (Monday, July 14), at (8 PM ET/PT,) the second season premieres 10 suspense-packed episodes showcasing the life-threatening drama of patients with enigmatic symptoms and the doctors who race the clock to make a diagnosis-and to save lives. MYSTERY ER adds to Discovery Health's extensive must-see offerings in the medical mystery genre, joining other hit series including MYSTERY DIAGNOSIS and DIAGNOSIS X.
Each episode of MYSTERY ER chronicles the real journey of an imperiled patient from the time he or she is rushed through the emergency room doors. The fast-paced action begins as the doctors scramble to make a diagnosis-but the pressure is on when the patient's symptoms produce little-if any-information. MYSTERY ER takes viewers along with doctors as they attempt to unravel the most unusual cases of their lives, revealing everything from rare conditions to animal-transmitted diseases and even criminal foul play. Among the stories featured this season:
* Decades after a serious car accident, a woman spontaneously loses the ability to speak-and when her speech returns, she speaks with a foreign accent that won't go away.
* A strongly built young man, after blowing his nose, gets violently ill and suddenly loses consciousness.
* A small child blacks out and becomes red after exposure to sunlight-and a visit to the ER yields the startling discovery that the child is unable to sweat.
Featuring real-life stories of inexplicable medical mysteries straight from the emergency room, MYSTERY ER is enhanced with re-enactments of true events as well as interviews with the actual patients and their doctors. From everyday ailments to debilitating diseases, MYSTERY ER tells extraordinary tales of the perseverance of patients and doctors who fight for a diagnosis.
Online at www.discoveryhealth.com, visitors will have access to a slideshow tour of a real emergency room, interesting ER statistics and a "Grab 'n Go" kit for family medical emergencies. In addition, the site features a "You Be the Doctor" quiz, where users will guess the diagnosis based on a variety of symptoms.
