Move It And Lose It! Oxygen Media Launches 'DANCE YOUR ASS OFF FIT CLUB'

Jun 24, 2009 - 3:09:06 PM

Connecting Viewers To Weight Loss Community On Vod, Online, Wireless And More, Starting June 29

Oxygen Media invites viewers to move it and lose it, at home or on the go, for the much-anticipated dance/weight-loss competition series "Dance Your Ass Off," premiering Monday, June 29 at 10PM ET/PT. Also starting June 29, www.oxygen.com launches a weight loss hub for users including the "Dance Your Ass Off Fit Club" diet channel that features contestant recipes, calorie calculators, mobile outreach and blogs. Plus, viewers can watch weekly fitness videos and chat with fellow fans on diet-friendly message boards. As part of the network's 360-degree outreach to its viewers, Oxygen also launches its "Dance Your Ass Off" VOD series featuring weekly themed dance lessons, starting Tuesday, June 30.

"The Dance Your Ass Off Fit Club delivers on our promise to build Oxygen as a multiplatform lifestyle destination for Generation O, engaging them everywhere they live," says Jason Klarman, General Manager, Oxygen Media.

As part of the diet/fitness experience, "Dance Your Ass Off" fans can check out the following content on www.oxygen.com:
- Weekly Crunch Fitness videos
- Web-only videos from the "Dance Your Ass Off" nutritionist
- Weekly text alerts with motivational messaging to keep up the diet/workouts
- Weekly "Dance Your Ass Off" newsletters
- Weekly on-air snipes with diet & nutrition trivia
- Weekly blogs from host Marissa Jaret Winokur, contestants and the Crunch Fitness trainer
- Oxygen's "Dance Your Ass Off" Challenge employee blog
- Special quizzes (e.g., What's Your Exercise Personality?)

Going live on June 29 at www.oxygen.com/fitclub, "Dance Your Ass Off Fit Club" also features:
- Four calculators: Snack Swapper, Calories Burned Calculator, BMI Calculator, and Nutrition Calculator
- Daily news feed of diet and nutrition articles (powered by NeverSayDiet)
- Special message board for dieting & fitness discussion
- Recipes from the contestants
- Breakfast and Snack suggestions
- "Dance Your Ass off" grocery list

Beginning Tuesday, June 30 through the season's run, Oxygen also offers a "Dance Your Ass Off" VOD component to viewers at home including weekly webisodes (recaps of each week's episode), exit interviews of the eliminated contestants and "How to Dance Your Ass Off" dance lessons (themed to that week's episode).

And for fans who want to show the world their hot moves, the network also launched a contest in which users can submit a video, exclusively on YouTube™, of themselves dancing their asses off for a chance to be featured on an Oxygen on-air promo during the show's season finale and a chance to win a three-night getaway to Universal Orlando Resort. The "Dance Your Ass Off Contest" runs now through August on www.youtube.com/danceyourassoff as part of the new "Dance Your Ass Off" brand channel on YouTube.

In addition, Oxygen brings the "Dance Your Ass Off" experience to its viewers also by allowing them to enter the contest by visiting the "Dance Your Ass Off" Move It To Lose It Tour in one of five cities where their dance videos are automatically uploaded to the brand channel. The tour also invites consumers to dance their asses off with professional dancers on a giant stage shaped as a scale, create a customized video of themselves performing the official DYAO dance and generate their own DYAO animated dancer. Upcoming stops on the tour include New York (Herald Square - June 29) and Chicago (Taste of Chicago - July 3-5).

Bringing dance and diet together, Oxygen's "Dance Your Ass Off" series features talented, full-figured contestants who will have to lose to win. Throughout the upcoming season, each contestant is paired with a professional dance partner who will train them for their weekly stage performances - ranging from Hip Hop, to Ballroom and even Pole Dancing! Then they shake and rattle their rolls in front of a live studio audience and a panel of expert judges. The judges score the routines, and then the contestants weigh in to reveal their weekly weight loss. The dance score and the weight loss are combined for an overall score, which determines who is sent home each week. The last dancer remaining wins the grand prize of $100,000.

"Dance Your Ass Off" is produced by 495 Productions with SallyAnn Salsano serving as executive producer and Joel Zimmer as co-executive producer, with concept by Lisa Ann Walter and Kate Rigg also serving as executive producers.
