Move Over White House Crashers: DIY Network Crashes Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party On Special Episode Of "HOUSE CRASHERS" On December 23
Josh Temple, licensed contractor and host of DIY Network'shit primetime seriesHouse Crashers, is known for stalking big-box home improvement stores looking for unsuspecting weekend warriors who need home renovation help. But this holiday season, he is the one who needs a hand in his new half-hour special, House Crashers: Disney. Premiering on Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET,Temple ambushes one family and reveals they'll be joining him on a cross-country trip to crash and build Lilo's Mele Kalikimaka Oasis atthe Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World Resort. It's a present for all as they rush to the finish for the opening night of the Lake Buena Vista, Fla., theme park's annual holiday celebration, "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party."
In just three days, the Mering family of Sacramento, Calif., Temple, and his DIY Network House Crashers team work with David Hartmann, a Walt Disney Entertainment art director, to create a place for Lilo and Stitch to visit and take pictures with their guests. The ground-up project includes building four Bamboo & Thatch Tiki Huts; a Hawaiian inspired photo backdrop; and the installation of holiday decorations galore.
Along the way, Temple puts down his power tools for a behind-the-scenes holiday decorating adventure at the Florida Vacation Kingdom. After crashing Disney World's massive decorating warehouse, journeymen event decorators teach him the impressive process of wrapping the 189-foot-tall Cinderella Castle in holiday lights. He also gets private access to witness the installation of Epcot's 65-foot tall iconic Christmas tree and he takes the Mering family with him to learn the secret of making it snow on Magic Kingdom's Main Street U.S.A..
