On ABC's "PRIMETIME: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?," Friday, August 13 - How Will People Respond To Blatant Racial Discrimination?

How will people respond to blatant racial discrimination? What if you witnessed a mother verbally abusing her child's nanny? Using hidden cameras, "Primetime: What Would You Do?" sets up everyday scenarios and then captures people's reactions.  Whether people are compelled to act or mind their own business, John Quiones reports on their split-second - and often surprising - decisions, on "Primetime: What Would You Do?," Friday, August 13 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Often people speculate on how they might act in a difficult situation, but this series shows what they actually do in the face of everyday dilemmas that test their character and values.  Friday's scenarios include:

* LATINO DAY LABORERS: "What Would You Do?" explores how people react when they witness blatant racial discrimination. In this scenario, Latino men and women attempt to place an order in broken English at a deli in downtown Linden, NJ. But their requests are met by extreme prejudice from the cashier. Hidden cameras capture how customers respond to the scenario. (OAD: 1/6/09)

* TALKING DOWN TO THE HELP: If you've ever worked for someone not very nice or witnessed someone talking down to an employee in a way that made you uncomfortable, you are not alone. "What Would You Do?" explores how people react when they witness an abusive situation between an employer and an employee, in this case a mother, her child and a nanny. Will people intervene when the mother is verbally abusive to the nanny, and will the reaction be different when it's the child who is abusive to the hired help? (OAD: 2/3/09)

* UNWANTED ADVANCES: How will people react when they witness a woman being incessantly hit on by an aggressive man at a bar? Will other patrons protect the woman, rely on someone else to intervene or ignore the unwanted advances all together? (OAD: 2/3/09)

"What Would You Do?" has won awards from the Chicago International Television Festival, and the Avon Foundation's 2006 Voice of Change award for exposing "injustice and wrongdoing against women and bringing the message of domestic violence to the mainstream." The Columbia Journalism Review has called the program "a Candid Camera of ethics.
