TBS's MY MANNY Family Goes on Vacation to Disney Parks for the Third Installment of the Successful Microseries
TBS is premiering the third season of the successful microseries MY MANNY this February with Disney Parks as the exclusive sponsor. TBS will build on the previous season's storyline and feature a family trip to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. MY MANNY will premiere on Feb. 24 and air every Wednesday evening for five consecutive weeks within specialized commercial breaks from Tyler Perry's MEET THE BROWNS at 9 and 9:30 p.m. Each of the ten episodes will encore at tbs.com.
"TBS has seen a large amount of success with our microseries by offering our partners creative ways to retain viewers during commercial breaks, reach them on digital platforms and integrate their brand in a natural storyline," said Linda Yaccarino, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Turner Entertainment Ad Sales/Marketing and Acquisitions. "We are exceptionally proud of our MY MANNY microseries as it continues onto its third season, offering a distinct brand like Disney Parks a creative way to reach a diverse audience who we hope will enjoy a complement to the top-rated series MEET THE BROWNS."
MY MANNY is a comedic TBS microseries starring Elise Neal (Hustle & Flow), Alana Ubach (Jekyll), Sharif Atkins (ER), Greg Alan Williams (Baywatch) and introducing Tarren Mason. The microseries is directed by Glen Owen and Angela Barnes Gomes and produced by State Line Films. It premiered on TBS within Tyler Perry's HOUSE OF PAYNE in January 2009.
MY MANNY tells the story of Jennifer Peterson (Neal), an attractive widow in her early 30s who is struggling to balance a full-time catering career and the needs of her 8-year-old son Jamel (Mason). When Jennifer's nanny calls out sick, her agency surprises her by sending a very handsome "manny" as a replacement. Although Jennifer says she'll allow Mike the Manny (Atkins) to help them out for just one day, Mike immediately becomes a role model for Jamel and Jennifer finds herself becoming increasingly unnerved over her own feelings for him. Jennifer's neighbor and friend Melanie (Ubach) certainly doesn't help the situation when she fuels the fire by encouraging Jennifer to act on her feelings for Mike.
Throughout the first two seasons, Jennifer and Mike's relationship fosters. The third season, sponsored by Disney Parks, picks up where Jennifer and Mike's surprise kiss left off. While they both deal with figuring out what that kiss meant and how they feel toward one another, Jennifer decides to celebrate Jamel's good grades at school by surprising him with a family trip to Walt Disney World Resort after a lot of campaigning on his behalf. While Jennifer, Jamel, Grandpa (Williams) and Melanie have fun checking out the sites in Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, Jennifer can't help but see Mike everywhere she goes. Eventually when she realizes Mike is indeed in Walt Disney World, she is faced with deciding whether love is worth the risk. She even gets advice from Disney Parks' newest princess, Tiana, who she meets during her Walt Disney World visit.
TBS will drive awareness for MY MANNY and Tyler Perry's MEET THE BROWNS through custom on-air tune-ins featured each week and leading up to the premiere each Wednesday evening, presented exclusively by Disney Parks. TBS will also feature in-show graphics and creative billboards airing within the featured episodes.
Online, tbs.com will feature a custom MY MANNY section, sponsored exclusively by Disney Parks. Features include cast bios, photography, show description, interactive episode guide and additional background to complement the on-air content. In addition, Disney Parks will sponsor TBS VOD content during the promotional period.
MY MANNY will air within Tyler Perry's MEET THE BROWNS, the #2 series on all of television, behind only American Idol, in delivery of African-Americans 18-49. Tyler Perry's MEET THE BROWNS, which currently airs Wednesday nights on TBS, stars David Mann (Madea Goes to Jail) as the fun-loving, wardrobe-challenged "Downtown" Leroy Brown, who is trying to fulfill his father's dying wish by opening a retirement home called Brown Meadows. Helping him out are his daughter, Cora (Tamela Mann - Meet the Browns, Diary of a Mad Black Woman); his nephew, Will (Lamman Rucker - Why Did I Get Married?), a doctor; Will's wife, Sasha (Denise Boutte - Days of Our Lives), a nurse; and Jesús Hernandez (Antonio Jaramillo - CSI: Miami), a maintenance engineer studying to be a lawyer. Also trying to lend a hand is London Sheraton (Arielle Vandenberg - Epic Movie), a not-too-bright celebrity/heiress who has to complete community service at Brown Meadows for a DUI conviction.
