THE BIGGEST LOSER Resort At Fitness Ridge - Weight Loss Resort And Spa - Opens Second Location In Beautiful Malibu Hills, CA

Jun 11, 2010 - 9:50:34 AM

NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group and Reveille Add Second Health Spa to Growing List of "The Biggest Loser" - Branded Health and Fitness Products

The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge announced that a second location will be opening this fall.  The new destination resort, located in Malibu, California, will become the latest addition to the list of The Biggest Loser health and fitness products that are dedicated to helping people adopt a healthy, "Biggest Loser" lifestyle.

The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge already offers guests a comprehensive weight-loss experience at their Southern Utah location.  The results-oriented program focuses on exercise, healthy nutrition and education, similar to what the contestants on NBC's hit weight loss series "The Biggest Loser" experience during their time on the Biggest Loser Ranch.

"We chose a location that offers a year-round, outdoor program so we can provide the same award-winning fitness routine already established in Utah", says Michelle Kelsch, resort co-owner."  Malibu's destination is perfectly situated in the green hills and just minutes from King Gillette Ranch, home to the Biggest Loser television show contestants."

Guests at The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge Malibu will be offered a minimum one-week weight loss program, but they are welcome to stay as many weeks as they wish. The average day will consist of at least six hours of physical exercise, including a wide variety of fitness choices from morning hikes to swimming to kickboxing to circuit training. Aerobic activities will include step, toning and ball works, as well as dance and core strengthening classes. In all, there are 20 different classes offered on the rotating fitness schedule.

There is an emphasis on exercise and movement, but the weight-loss resort is also focused on helping people change their lives through education. The fitness program and education series are designed to prepare guests to begin a new, healthier way of living when they leave the resort and the goal is to allow guests to experience the same sort of structured and nurturing environment as the contestants on "The Biggest Loser."

"Since launching with "The Biggest Loser" last year, the resort has seen tremendous interest from fans all over the world who want to incorporate what they see on 'The Biggest Loser' into their own lifestyle", says Tami Clark, Resort co-owner.  "Opening a second location is about meeting those increased demands."

The Malibu Resort is located in Southern California on 160 acres surrounded by a natural oasis of trees and wildflowers.  Guests can experience a variety of hikes from the wooded mountain trails of the rugged Santa Monica Mountain National Recreation Area, to some hikes offering viewpoints of the sparkling blue waters alongside the Pacific Coast.  Conveniently located near the three major airports, LAX, Burbank, and Long Beach, with access to Highway 101, Interstate 405 and the Pacific Coast Highway.

"We are so proud of what The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge has offered to guests in the way of a healthy, motivational experience and we are really thrilled to be able to open a second location," said Kim Niemi, Senior Vice President, NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group. "So many people are anxious to adopt a healthy lifestyle of their own and The Biggest Loser Resort is one of the best ways to turn over a new leaf and get started."

The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge Malibu offers a comprehensive health and fitness experience for its guests. During their stay, guests learn how to prepare meals in a flavorful, low calorie way through on-site meal-preparation classes. They are treated to three delicious meals a day, prepared by a trained, on-site chef and dietitian. The low-fat, low-calorie meals are prepared with an emphasis on creativity and flavor. The total calorie intake is limited to 1200 per day and the delicious offerings include grilled turkey sausage breakfast sandwich, chicken caesar salad for lunch, and salisbury steak and onions for dinner.  Dessert is always served, including key lime pie and everyone's favorite, chocolate covered strawberries.

"The new Malibu location of The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge is yet another example of how 'The Biggest Loser' has helped millions of people adopt healthier, active lifestyles," said Mark Koops, Managing Director at Reveille. "We're excited to bring the resort to California, the home of The Biggest Loser Ranch, and we remain committed to providing our viewers with the products and tools they need to achieve their fitness goals."

The weight-loss resort also focuses on training guests in adopting a new way of living, cooking, eating and staying fit. Guests have access to on-site licensed professionals, including a registered dietician and licensed counselor. These experts instruct guests how to approach meal planning and how to best recognize habits such as emotional and intuitive eating. Following the daily fitness schedule, guests are encouraged to relax and pamper themselves in the resort's full-service salons. All services are geared toward relieving tension and restoring energy, balance and focus.

Many former Biggest Loser contestants have experienced the resort's program.  Tara Costa first visited in 2009, and returned in January to jumpstart her triathlon training.  Since then, other former contestants have spent time at the resort, including Dan and Jackie Evans, Suzy Hoover, Bernie Salazar, Brittany Aberle, Sione and Filipe Fa, Seth Word, Nicole Brewer, Damien Gurganious, and Jim Germankos.  The resort also hosted NFL veteran Ephraim Salaam, Broadway and television star Marissa Winokur, and celebrity chef Devin Alexander.

About The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge
The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge provides one of the most affordable, calorie-controlled, structured programs in the weight-loss spa industry. Designed to give lasting results, guests will experience a boot-camp style program that features incredible hiking, stimulating cardio and stretch classes, delectable, low-calorie spa cuisine and practical education on how to live a "Biggest Loser" lifestyle. Fitness Ridge began in 2002 as collaboration between Tami Clark and Michelle and Cameron Kelsch, three experienced entrepreneurs dedicated to health and wellness. In 2009, the resort partnered with the Biggest Loser, incorporating the new name and joined together on other Biggest Loser products.

The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge offers two locations.  The southern Utah resort is located on 10 acres, just minutes from Snow Canyon State Park and surrounded by incredible scenery of majestic red bluffs, towering vermillion sandstone and black lava rock. The southern California resort resides on 160 acres in the Santa Monica Mountain National Recreation Area, perfectly situated between the Malibu mountains and the Pacific coastline.  Both resorts are exceptional weight loss destinations and are the perfect place to jumpstart your health or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

In 2009, members of Spas of America voted The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge #1 Most Popular Spa, and was considered with over 700 other resort, hotels, and destination spas listed on the national website. For more information, please visit WWW.BIGGESTLOSERRESORT.COM.
