"THE VIEW'S" Elisabeth Hasselbeck And Husband Tim Hasselbeck Swap Jobs

ABC Daytime Talk Show Host to Spend Jan. 19 at ESPN; NFL Analyst Husband to Appear on "The View" Jan. 28

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a Daytime Emmy Award-winning co-host of ABC's "The View," and her husband, ESPN NFL analyst Tim Hasselbeck, are changing jobs. Elisabeth will spend the afternoon of Tuesday, January 19 on the ESPN campus in Bristol, CT, where she will appear in Tim's place on ESPN programs, including "NFL Live" (4:00 p.m., ET), to discuss the NFL playoffs and other sports topics. Elisabeth's appearances and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage will be captured by "The View's" cameras for a feature airing on Thursday, January 28.

"So many times we ask, 'How did work go today?'" said Elisabeth. "Undoubtedly we will be finding out the hard way as we switch jobs. The question then will be 'What have we gotten ourselves into?'"

Tim will complete the job swap Thursday, January 28, at the ABC studios in New York, where he will occupy Elisabeth's seat on "The View" (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET) alongside co-hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters. The former NFL quarterback will share his perspective and match wits with the all-female panel as they discuss the latest news, celebrity gossip and events of the day. This marks the first time that Tim will serve as a guest co-host. He joins an esteemed and very exclusive short list of male celebrities who've been seated at the famous semi-circular 'Hot Topics' table, including James Denton (ABC's "Desperate Housewives"), Bo Bice, Regis Philbin ("Live with Regis & Kelly"), Ricardo Chavira (ABC's "Desperate Housewives"), Terrence Howard, Mario Cantone and Cameron Mathison (ABC's "All My Children").

"I normally do not like men sitting at ("The View") table, but I will make an exception for Tim because I like his wife," joked executive producer Bill Geddie. "I have known and liked Tim for many years and can promise you he has no idea what he has gotten himself into. I have spoken with Elisabeth and I can assure you she's terrified. Tim, however, is the one who should be terrified," he laughed.

Added Tim: "Hopefully I can pull this off because I see her preparation on a regular basis each week - reading, and watching cable news shows, other television programs and upcoming movies. I'll enjoy this because I know they'll have fun with me at 'The View' and, of course, when I get back to work at ESPN. I'm sure I'll have a greater appreciation for what she does on a day-in and day-out basis."

The Hasselbecks have been married since 2002, and they first met at Boston College in the late 1990s. Tim was quarterback of the football team and Elisabeth captained the back-to-back BIG EAST Conference champion women's softball team. No stranger to sports, Elisabeth also completed the 1999 Boston Marathon and in 2001 participated in "Survivor: The Australian Outback" reality series, in which she finished among the final four contestants. A native of Rhode Island, Elisabeth is a fan of the old-school Boston Celtics and the Seattle Seahawks, whose starting quarterback happens to be Matt Hasselbeck (Tim's brother). Tim spent six seasons in the NFL (2002-07), most notably with the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, for whom he served as backup to Eli Manning.
