TLC Goes Searching For The Master Of Dance - New Competition Series Hosted By Joey Lawrence

May 19, 2008 - 4:00:45 PM

Do you have the moves it takes to be TLC's MASTER OF DANCE? The new competition series - hosted by Joey Lawrence - tests the dancer's moves by changing the song mid‐performance to see if they can really go with the flow. Only the dancers with a full repertoire and the flexibility to keep up with the beat will be able to claim the grand prize - $50,000.

MASTER OF DANCE premieres Sunday June 8 at 9 PM ET/PT. The series is executive produced by Craig Piligian/Pilgrim Films & Television (American Chopper, Dirty Jobs).

The six part series will air over three consecutive Sundays, with each episode featuring five dancers pitted against each other through three elimination rounds, where they will be tested on style, genre, and personality. The winners from the first five episodes will move on to the Tournament of Champions Grand Finale for a dance off to win the cash prize and title of MASTER OF DANCE.

"The winner of this show will be that person at the wedding or party that always has the right moves and knows every popular dance. We're looking for real people with real skills to get on stage and just have fun," explains Piligian.

Hosted by Joey Lawrence, who demonstrated his skill on stage when he ranked as the second runner up during the third season of Dancing with the Stars, said of his hosting duties: "I've always had a passion for dancing, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with TLC and all of the competitors as they battle it out for the grand prize and title MASTER OF DANCE."

In addition to Lawrence offering guidance, there will be a panel of judges to critique the performers as well, including:

* Lucinda Dickey: dancing since the age of four, she studied with the prestigious Roland DuPree Dance Academy. She has appeared on stage and screen as a dancer in hits like Solid Gold, Breakin', and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

* Keith "Tyce" Diorio: a dancer and choreographer who has danced with Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, and others. He appears as a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance.

* Loni Love: voted one of 2008's top 20 comics to watch on Comedy Central, she is
a regular on the comedy circuit and has offered her hilarious pop culture commentary on numerous television shows.

"Joey is the perfect host for this fresh twist on the dance competition," explained
Brent Zacky, VP of Programming at TLC. "Each episode is unpredictably exciting, and shows that you don't have to be a professional dancer to have all the right moves."
