Thirty Seconds To Mars Takes Flight During MTV UNPLUGGED
MTV Music Group announced Thirty Seconds to Mars is the latest artist to be featured in its Grammy and Emmy award-winning series, "Unplugged," exclusively presented by Starburst. The episode will premiere on Starburst's Facebook page and across MTV Music Group's multiple platforms and screens beginning July 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
The five-song set includes raw and up-close performances of "Hurricane," "Kings and Queens," "Closer to the Edge," and "Night of the Hunter," as well the special Starburst Contradictions Track, an inspirational rendition of U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name".
After filming, band frontman Jared Leto described his excitement about being asked to participate in Unplugged to MTV News stating, "I think our generation, it was kind of a rite of passage, and if you were invited to do 'MTV Unplugged,' it certainly was a pretty big deal. And so many of our favorite bands did 'Unplugged' and still do it, so we were really thrilled to be asked."

MTV Unplugged: Thirty Seconds to Mars will exclusively debut on Starburst's Facebook page and MTV.com on July 20 at 8 p.m. as part of a live viewing party where fans can interact with one another while watching the show. In addition, one lucky Superfan will share their photos and videos from the on-site taping on the Starburst Facebook page, offering fans an even closer behind-the-scenes look. Beginning on July 21, "Hurricane" will go into music video rotations on MTV's AMTV, MTV2's AMTV2, mtvU and MTV Hits. A 30-minute special will debut on Palladia, MTV Networks' high-definition music channel on Friday, July 29th at 9pm with an encore at midnight.
Starburst continues as the exclusive partner for the second consecutive season of "Unplugged." The brand will be featured alongside each episode on-air and at Unplugged.CMT.com, Unplugged.MTV.com and Unplugged.VH1.com. Because Starburst is the ultimate contradiction in candy as it is solid yet juicy, the brand is especially excited to present the Contradictions Track, where each Unplugged artist performs a song that is contradictory to their normal genre of music.
In addition, Starburst is tapping into their passionate Facebook community of almost 10 million fans by offering them an exclusive online viewing party. During the party a chat will happen simultaneously on the Starburst Facebook page and Unplugged.MTV.com where fans will have the ability to provide thoughts and comments via their social networks and view behind-the-scenes footage. New episodes of Unplugged will launch throughout the year at Unplugged.CMT.com, Unplugged.MTV.com, and/or Unplugged.VH1.com facebook.com/Starburst.
