Three Contenders Remain... But Only One Star Will Outshine The Rest On The Two-Night Season Finale Of DANCING WITH THE STARS On ABC

May 15, 2008 - 10:26:37 AM

Grammy Award Winning Superstar Usher Performs

All Nine of the Previous Fallen Stars from This Season Return

The Junior Ballroom Champions Will Be Crowned

After ten weeks of entertaining drama, camaraderie and dazzling  performances, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jason Taylor and Cristian de la Fuente have broken away from the pack and earned the right for a chance to be crowned champion of "Dancing with the Stars." The three finalists will have their last opportunity to impress the judges and viewers in the two-part season finale, beginning MONDAY, MAY 19 (8:00-9:02 p.m., ET), and concluding TUESDAY, MAY 20 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET). For the first time, the teams will face off dancing the Cha Cha Cha to an extended version of the same song. Each team will dance to a section of the song before stepping aside for the next team to showcase their routine -- giving judges and viewers a chance to compare the couples alongside each other. In addition, Kristi, Jason and Cristian will show us what they've got in the ever popular Freestyle routine - a fan favorite.

Tuesday's two-hour finale begins with the third-place couple being announced; the couple will dance their favorite routine of the season as their final performance. The remaining two couples will perform their third and final dance -- one of their favorite past routines from the season - to be scored by the judges. The judges' scores for Tuesday's dances will be combined with the judges' scores and viewers' votes from Monday's performances to determine the winner.

Other finale highlights include the return of all nine previously eliminated couples performing a final dance, the crowning of the Junior Ballroom Champs, and a special performance by five-time Grammy(r) winner Usher. Performing, "Love in This Club," which shot to #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 music chart, Usher is back with his latest album, "Here I Stand," available May 27. He'll also treat audiences to a special one-off big band song and dance version of his Grammy Award-winning hit single, "Yeah," accompanied by his dancers and pros Cheryl Burke, Karina Smirnoff, Kym Johnson, Derek Hough and Artem Chigvintsev. This mix was devised specially for the show.

All the excitement and frenzy will lead up to the moment we've all been waiting for - who among the three finalists will win reign as champions of "Dancing with the Stars" and take home the coveted mirror ball trophy?

Viewers may cast their votes for their favorite teams via phone during and up to thirty minutes after Monday's show. AT&T subscribers may also text message their votes by texting the word "VOTE" and entering the number that corresponds to the team they want to support (standard text message rates apply). Viewers may also vote online at www.abc.com once the performance show begins on the East Coast, until 12:00p.m., ET the next day.

Hosted by Tom Bergeron ("America's Funniest Home Videos") and Samantha Harris ("E! Entertainment"), the celebrities will perform choreographed dance routines which will be judged by renowned Ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

"Dancing with the Stars" is the U.S. version of the international BBC smash hit series, "Strictly Come Dancing." This version is produced in America by BBC Worldwide Productions. Conrad Green serves as executive producer and Rob Wade and Matilda Zoltowski are co-executive producers. Alex Rudzinski directs.
