Apr 14, 2010 - 10:43:36 AM

Bellator Highlight Shows Hit mun2 Programming Saturday April 17th at 10PM ET/PT

mun2 has partnered with Bellator to present hour-long highlight shows of the action-packed Bellator Fighting Championships. The mixed martial arts offering kicks off on Saturday April 17th at 10pmET/PT and airs Saturday nights at 10pm ET/PT.

"Adding MMA to our line-up is part of the network's evolution in providing cutting-edge programming for young, bicultural Latinos in the US," says Flavio Morales, SVP, Programming & Production for mun2. "From soccer to WWE, our sports entertainment offerings have consistently resonated with our viewers and now, we're excited to partner with Bellator in bringing weekly action-packed highlight shows of Bellator Fighting Championships to our audience."

Beginning April 17th, mun2 will broadcast a series of hour-long English-language highlight shows recapping all 24 of Bellator's upcoming Season 2 and 3 events. The one-hour highlights will feature the best from the live weekly tournament, which builds towards the final championships.

Bellator Fighting Championships comes as part of mun2's multi-platform sports offerings. In February 2010, the network announced its launch of "The mun2 Sports Arena," a sports programming initiative developed to capture the wide-ranging sports interests of young Latinos in the US. Featured sports coverage included soccer and mixed martial arts. Every Saturday, the network offers Mexican League soccer matches, live and in English. In addition, World Wrestling Entertainment's ECW and WWE's RAW continue to have unprecedented success on mun2.

The bilingual cable network's first sports offering came in 2009 with its exclusive English-language broadcast of the highly anticipated World Cup Qualifying Match: Mexico vs. USA, setting a new record for the network, the highest audiences ever for any program on mun2 among P18-49, and scored the highest average in the history of the network among P18-34 in that time-period.
